Why do I even bother watching and trying to get invested in television shows while they're on air? I always get behind, and with no catching up in sight. Always.
Examples:
01.) I started watching the latest Women's Murder Club episode tonight, but when one of the characters said she was single I had to pause while I was all like....o_O Bzuh? Apparently, I've missed about three or four episodes.
02.) I started watching Brothers & Sisters at random during it's first season because my mom was watching it (it's how I got into Joan of Arcadia, too). And it was before the second season premiered that I torrented the pilot and watched it. I think I got to the 4th or 5th first season episode before I stopped, but then I started watching the second season. That was such a bad idea. I should have watched all of the first season, then torrented the S2 episodes of the second season that I missed, and I would have gotten all caught up at some point (hello, writer's strike, yeah). But no, I didn't. Ugh. I somehow have missed the episode that played before the one that aired this past Sunday. I had started watching it after stopping WMC, but then the characters were talking about stuff that I didn't remember from the last episode I watched so I had to go onto Wikipedia to figure it out. At least it's just one episode, but I'm almost positive that I've missed a few of the early second season episodes, though. Maybe. They all took place before the stupidity that was that writer's strike, so it was a very long time ago.
03.) I missed the episode before this past Sunday's Cold Case episode, but that is the type of show that I've always watched at random so I don't give a shit about that. I've recorded it on my list and have moved on. At some point, I do want to rent the season boxed sets (if they have them) and watch the earlier episodes, but for now I'll stick to my random viewings.
04.) Most of the Gossip Girl episodes have been deleted from the DVR either for space or because they have expired. Well, DVR, I haven't been home for a month so excuse me. More torrenting, I guess.
05.) I have deleted most of the others shows I have on my list because they were shows that I was recording for Bitch. They were all shows that I either wanted to watch (Bones) or watched the first couple of seasons of (Smallville) so I ended up watching them with Bitch when he would visit. But now that the whore is in SC, I don't want to watch them until I have gotten caught up, since most have one or more seasons under their belt. Gah.
It's all about pacing, organizing, and setting aside the time to actually watch everything I am interested in. Which I know, but still don't seem to do.
Don't even get me started on movies. I didn't watch any movies last month. And I only watched one back in March. And now that May is here? Yeah, the big Summer Blockbuster movies are starting to roll out. Iron Man opens today. Ugh, I bet I won't see half of the movies this summer. I guess this is why BTA is a good thing to have. If only I would actually use it. Heh.
All of this is probably silly to the serious types out there who would read this and think me shallow, but it seems I cannot really concentrate on what I love to do, which is watching movies and TV. I also love to read, but my reading habits are abhorrent as well right now. I also love going to concerts, but the last one I went to was Missy Higgins back in March. However, I will be seeing three concerts this month (four if one counts working The Swell Season as going to a concert), so maybe things are looking up in the concert department. I've been ignoring many of the other interests I love that I don't record here in my silly LJ, too. Maybe I'm letting myself get too distracted by all the serious RL decisions I need to make in order to change where I'm going in my life.
I should sleep, I somehow made this a semi-serious post when all I wanted to do was whine about silly, superficial bullshit.
