I will be keeping lists at listography.com from now on.
100 Movies in 2008:
Movie Title | Date of viewing | Format | Grade/comments |
---|---|---|---|
01.) Brokeback Mountain | Tue, 01 Jan 08 | DVD | A, I didn't watch this when it first came out because of all the hype. Plus, I was lazy. Anyway, Ang Lee, whom I love, did a magnificent job with this film. The cinematography is gorgeous. A beautifully shot scene was the one with Ennis and the fireworks. The score is lovely and fitting, imo. My favourite scene: Jack's flashback memory scene. There was something about how it was shot and how it was acted that just made me fall in love. Another great scene was when Jack stood up to his FIL. That was brilliant. I didn't like the aging make-up or the added content with Linda Cardellini's character. She was unnecessary. But all of that was minor compared to the rest of the film. I ached for Alma. And the ending made me cry (a bit) just like when I read the short story years ago. |
02.) All the King's Men | Wed, 02 Jan 08 | movie ch. | D, Um, Jude Law sure is pretty. Ahem, it was predictable and boring. It was trying to be this epic tale of something most everyone in this world should know: that a (supposed - I honestly didn't think Sean Penn's character was this good, ideal man from the get-go) good man can be corrupted when given power. Geez, now tell me something I don't know, film. |
03.) Atonement | Thur, 03 Jan 08 | theatre | C, I haven't read the book. It was enjoyable enough. I admit, I went for McAvoy. Heh. He is just so gorgeous to look at, not to mention that he is a damn good actor. And really, he was the only part of the film that held my attention, though I didn't see any chemistry with Keira Knightley. I thought the war portion of the film moved too slowly, but was gorgeously shot (as was the whole movie). Young Briony annoyed me, but props to the actress, I guess. The editing choices were...interesting. Lola was a bitch. I don't care that she was "raped" she was a bitch. I think I blame the actress. Lola led skeevy Paul on, imo. Now, that doesn't mean she deserved to be raped, but then she marries her rapist? Sorry, I don't believe her bullshit. She liked it, but didn't like that skeevy Paul left evidence for everyone to see. One last thing, Leon and Paul were so lovers, I don't care what anyone says, they were. See? Slasher at heart. |
04.) Annapolis | Fri, 04 Jan 08 | movie ch. | C, A military film that went by the formula template for all military-type films, even though this one didn't show anything beyond a kid having issue with is commanding officer. So, no war scenes. In saying that, I give it a C because I enjoyed some of the characters, the banter between some of those characters, and because Donnie Wahlberg was in it! :D |
05.) Pieces of April | Sat, 05 Jan 08 | DVD | B, Great acting, especially by Patricia Clarkson. This is raw and realistic, and I think the home video filming helps that. They do play to some stereotypes and extreme situations, but for the most part this is a delightfully understated film. |
06.) Reno 911!: Miami | Sat, 05 Jan 08 | movie ch. | D, I have not seen the show, but I don't think that matters. Except for a few laughs, and getting to see a few of my favourite actors/comedians, this was pretty lame. |
07.) Another Day in Paradise | Sun, 06 Jan 08 | movie ch. | D, LMAO, my ears are not delicate when it comes to a lot of swearing, but, damn, there was plenty coming from this movie. Though, in regards to excessive swearing, I bet this isn't the worse movie out there. This was pretty, well, crappy. Hilarious overuse of the fake blood, too. I was watching this and wondering why nobody had the guts to shoot James Woods' character dead. He was such an ass. Is he always an ass in his films? I'm trying to recall what else of his I've seen, and all I can think of is The Virgin Suicides and Hercules. Heh. Now I want to watch Hercules. I think the only two awesome things about this movie were Lou Diamond Phillips and Melanie Griffith getting punched in the face. |
08.) Three Kings | Mon, 07 Jan 08 | movie ch. | B, I swear I thought I had seen this when I had rented Mark Wahlberg movies years ago, but I can only remember watching the first 15 to 20 minutes. So, whatever. This was a refreshingly engaging war movie that nicely blended action, drama and comedy together. |
09.) Just My Luck | Tue, 08 Jan 08 | movie ch. | F, I only watched this because I had somehow wound up watching half of it last year and I just want to cross it off my "movies I've only seen half of" list. I can now thankfully do that! Mostly I was rolling my eyes, but the times I was laughing, I was laughing at the crap that is this movie. Cokehead Lohan can do all of us a favour and stop trying to be an actress and disappear. |
10.) A Good Year | Wed, 09 Jan 08 | movie ch. | B, I enjoyed this. It might have a predictable, cliché plot, but it's listed as a romcom. I'm not going on my rant on romcoms. It engaged me. There were funny moments and minimal sap among the formula plot. The locations and that château were beautiful. Also, I love Tom Hollander and Marion Cotillard (Love Me If You Dare is a favourite). |
11.) Stranger Than Fiction | Fri, 11 Jan 08 | DVD | B, I adored this! |
12.) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang | Fri, 11 Jan 08 | movie ch. | B, It was way kooky, but in a completely menarded way that I ended up loving. |
13.) Into the Blue | Sat, 12 Jan 08 | movie ch. | C, I really want to go back to The Bahamas. SO BEAUTIFUL! Besides the nice eye candy, this movie was generic and lame. Josh Brolin, you're better than this. |
14.) The Painted Veil | Mon, 14 Jan 08 | movie ch. | B, How depressingly beautiful. |
15.) Notes on a Scandal | Fri, 18 Jan 08 | DVD | A, Superb acting by all. Judi Dench is freakalicious. |
16.) Mr. Magorioum's Wonder Emporium | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | D, Bit boring and lackluster. A lot of the scenes from the trailer were obviously cut. There were some fun moments but meh overall. |
17.) Bee Movie | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | C, Animation was fun but the story was a bit absurd, even for animated kid comedies, imo. I mean, it was good, until the bees won the lawsuit. After that through the end was not needed, imo. It went to an extreme that it didn't need to go to. |
18.) The Golden Compass | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | C, I haven't read the books. The movie was long. I got annoyed with things being explained to me all the time. Granted, this has source material, but when I'm getting smacked in the head with monologues explaining this and that, I get bored. I found myself slashing the animals. Yeah, sick, I know. They're was some slashy goodness in this, actually. Heh. Um, not enough of Daniel Craig, and I liked the LotR reunion (of sorts). I was having a devil of a time convincing myself that Sir Ian McKellen was the voice of Iorek Byrnison or not, but only because he sometimes sounded like James Earl Jones to me. I don't know how I got that either. There were some entertaining bits, but eh? I might have to read the books and watch it again, see if that will help (or make it worse). |
19.) Across the Universe | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | C, Drags on. Visually and artistically stunning but the movie had a weak script/premise. It was like all the director wanted to do was show her artistic music video interpretation of all The Beatles songs, but then realised that it would be a 5 year long movie and decided to cut back on what she thought was a reasonable length. She was wrong. There were some songs that didn't need to be covered (this is most likely a personal taste issue more than anything) or be butchered by some of the performers. I am, however, a bit smitten with Jim Sturgess after watching this, and I did love some of the "music video" numbers (i.e. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", "I've Just Seen A Face", "With A Little Help From My Friends"). |
20.) Into the Wild | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | A, I loved the idea behind what this kid did, but how he went about it was just...stupid. He did some fucking stupid things while living in the "wild" and he had nobody to blame but himself. The film it self had some great moments. I did love the music, and the people the kid met while on his travels. Hal Holbrook broke my heart. There was some great acting, imo. |
21.) Lars and the Real Girl | Tue, 22 Jan 08 ($2 Tuesdays) | theatre | C, All I could think was: So.Freaking.Awkward. Acting is good all around, but Ryan Gosling seems to play a different version of the same character all the time now. I did enjoy some parts, hence the average C grade. |
22.) 27 Dresses | Tue, 25 Jan 08 | theatre | C, Standard, formulaic romcom fare, but one with the lovely James Marsden to keep it good. Seriously, the dictionary entry for dreamboat needs to be revised to:
–noun Slang. 1. 2. anything considered as highly desirable of its kind: His new car is a dreamboat. |
23.) The Covenant | Tue, 12 Feb 08 | movie ch. | D, Hilariously bad. It had the potential to be something awesome, imo, but the script was weak. Some pretty boys to keep me distracted and one cool special effect, that they seemed to spend all their money on, is all this movie really has to offer. |
24.) The Four Feathers | Wed, 13 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | D, I liked some of the scenes/character interactions/bonds, but overall the film went longer than needed and it had too much of a nicely happily ever after for me (even though there were character deaths and whatnot). |
25.) Take the Lead | Wed, 13 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, A basic formulaic "inspired by true events" template movie, but, like with Glory Road, one that I enjoyed. But I'm suspecting that had a lot to do with Antonio Banderas and the dancing. :D The threesome was HOT, 0mg! |
26.) The Station Agent | Wed, 13 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | A, I'm in love with this film. The acting was fantastic. It is just this little, quiet character study of a film. I can relate to the characters, to an extent. |
27.) Definitely, Maybe | Thur, 14 Feb 08 | theatre | C, Didn't think this was promoted right. It isn't a silly, funny romcom. It jumped right into the film (credits, short scene that leads up to: "tell me about how you met my mom"), and that was odd to me, but whatever. Ryan Reynolds was bland, but had some cute/fun moments with all the women and Abigail Breslin. I love Isla Fisher. I was totally surprised that one of my favourite actors, Kevin Kline, was in this since he wasn't listed on the poster credits or in any of the commercial spots I have seen. All the women are awesome, not one bad "guy" among them, and I think that is what I loved the most. |
28.) 28 Days | Fri, 15 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | B, I enjoyed this. I think it has a wonderfully delightful cast, I especially love Alan Tudyk, and I think the subject matter was balanced nicely between heavy and light. |
29.) The Hitcher | Fri, 15 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, Standard subpar horror/thriller fare, but one I enjoyed parts of. I thought Sean Bean was awesome as the bad guy, but he usually is. I especially loved when Gomez's "How We Operate" closed the movie!!! SO SWEET! |
30.) The War of the Roses | Sat, 16 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | B, So fucking hilarious! If Bitch and I were to ever get married, this movie would be our divorce! The shit they did to each other had me rolling with laughter. |
31.) Mother | Sun, 17 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | B, Debbie Reynolds is so good as the grate-on-your-nerves mother. This was cute and funny. |
32.) Flirting with Disaster | Sun, 17 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, The cast is awesome (minus my least favourite, Ben Stiller). The situations the characters get into are wildly absurd and unrealistic but hilarious nonetheless. |
33.) Saw II | Sun, 17 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, Bitch made me watch the first movie back in 2006. I thought it was good, but that it didn't need any sequels (He also made me watch Hostel, which I also thought didn't need a sequel), hence why I never got around to watching the other movies until now. Everyone should know by now that Hollywood never knows when to leave a good thing alone so of course this is the next horror movie franchise. This sequel was good. It had Donnie Wahlberg so YAY! for small favours. It was interesting how they are weaving all the movies together. But when will that stop and it becomes about supernatural bullshit that has no relation to the concept of the original, like so many other horror movie franchises have done? |
34.) Saw III | Mon, 18 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, ^What I said above, but I also like how, even though they are not writing or directing the sequels, the original writer and director are still connected to the films. Bitch is making me watch these in preparation for the 5th fucking movie that is coming out this year. LOL, make it stop. |
35.) Knight Rider (TV movie) | Mon, 18 Feb 08 | NBC | C, A fun time but nothing spectacularly mind blowing or intelligent. Just shiny. |
36.) The New Guy | Mon, 18 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, Lame funny. DJ Qualls is adorkable. The cameos were hilarious. |
37.) Step Up 2 | Mon, 18 Feb 08 | theatre (at Crapmike for free!) | C, Bitch made me watch the first back in 2006. I enjoyed it. The dancing is all this sequel has to offer, though I did like the misfit crew Andie created at MSA. But I was giggling whenever they would play the music that is better suited for critically acclaimed epic dramas. |
38.) Jumper | Tue, 19 Feb 08 | theatre (at Crapmike after hours for free!!) | C, Some fun action sequences, Jamie Bell, cool special effects, and funny scenes, but otherwise a brainless popcorn action flick with nothing really to offer. Not even the presence of Samuel L. Jackson helps. Hs character was just....laughable. If they make sequels, I will beat someone with a 2x4. |
39.) Mischief | Tue, 19 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, Cheesy fun. It is set in the 50's, an era I love! They had the costumes, music, cars, and everything from the 50's. I was in heaven. Bitch and I agreed that we need to have a "set in the 50's" movie marathon one of these days, since we're both fans. |
40.) Good Morning, Vitnam | Tue, 19 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | B, Robin Williams seems to be touch and go for me nowadays, but this is an oldie, and I was laughing a lot during this. I had no idea Forest Whittaker was in this movie! |
41.) The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift | Tue, 19 Feb 08 | (Bitch's) DVD | C, Only has to offer: the distractingly hot Lucas Black, the cute Sung Kang, the shiny cars that do fun things on Tokyo roads and parking ramps, and the surprise at the end. |
42.) Michael Clayton | Sat, 23 Feb 08 | theatre (AMC Best Picture Showcase) | D, 0mg, it's just another legal drama. The cast is impressive, but wasted. It is obvious that George Clooney was wearing eye liner. It was quite boring until the ending. |
43.) There Will Be Blood | Sat, 23 Feb 08 | theatre (AMC Best Picture Showcase) | B, This for sure was intriguing. I loved the twisted relationship between Daniel and Eli, but that was mostly because of the acting between DD-L and Paul Dano. I also enjoyed the relationship between Daniel and his son, the boy who played H.W. was fantastic. The ending was jarring, in the sense of how it jumped so far ahead in time. P.S. I looooooooooove the score. |
44.) Penelope | Fri, 07 Mar 08 | theatre | B, A cute, silly and fun movie. James McAvoy totally didn't need to have a (bad) American accent at all. I like his Scottish accent, thanks. I liked how little Reese Witherspoon was in it. She was a producer of this film, and usually when actors decide to play other roles in the film industry, they want to do it all, including being the star of the movie. I liked that she decided to be a minor character. Unless the editing process saw a lot of her scenes on the cutting room floor or something, but I doubt it. |
45.) Once | Fri, 28 Mar 08 | DVD | A, This was so lovely. I loved how it wasn't polished or brilliantly acted. I loved the songs, and you can totally see the chemistry between the two. I can't wait to work their concert in May!!! |
46.) The Descent | Sat, 10 May 08 | movie ch. | B, This had my pulse racing, but the ending confused me. So I did some reading and found out that the US got an alternate ending. Ugh. The real ending sounds a lot better. So what if was a "überhopeless finale", I would have preferred it because the US ending is lame. In addition to my dislike to the US ending, the creatures sounds got annoying after awhile, and I personally wish some plot/story points had been flushed out better. Example: the creatures. There's a sequel? Of course there is. |
47.) Iron Man | Sun, 11 May 08 | theatre | A, :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD FTW!!!!! One note: I I know it is most likely due to his character, but I swear that RDJ was totally slut walking throughout the film. By that, I mean it just looked like he was showing off the arc reactor, and his rather fit body, by sticking his chest out with his shoulders back and butt out. Nothing wrong with that, believe me, but it seemed so blatant that I had to giggle on the inside since I was watching the movie with my BIL. XD |
48.) License to Wed | Mon, 12 May 08 | movie ch. | D, I saw this for Mandy Moore and John Krasinski. I do love Robin Williams, but he was meh in this. I felt embarrassed for the actors for some of those lines. The robot babies needed to be shot. |
49.) Made of Honor | Wed, 21 May 08 | theatre | C, So beyond silly and generic but what made the movie tolerable for me was how they showed the friendship between Tom and Hannah (there needs to be more believable male/female friendships on my screen...though here, Hannah secretly loved Tom, which, ugh, gag), and I adore Kevin McKidd like nobody's business (he sang and punched McDreamy!!!). OH! And that beginning scene, when they showed Tom and Hannah meeting as college students? 0MFG, I WAS TOTALLY SEEING PATRICK DEMPSEY CIRCA 1980's!!! THE MAKE-UP PEOPLE DESERVE A FUCKING AWARD FOR THAT! |
50.) Vacancy | Mon, 26 May 08 | movie ch. | B, I enjoyed this until the ending. FTL HOLLYWOOD. You had it right until that damn ending. Now a sequel is in the works? I will laugh, and not be surprised, when it becomes a direct to DVD sequel. |
51.) Disturbia | Tue, 27 May 08 | movie ch. | B, I enjoyed this a lot (loved the slow build-up)! There were some clichés, but that is about all I am complaining about. I totally loved Kale's best friend, Ronnie!!! ♥ |
52.) Recount (HBO Film) | Wed, 28 May 08 | movie ch. | B, Despite the fact that both parties get equal screen time, it seems that the filmmakers are Democrats. Besides that, the cast is AMAZING, and their performances are fabulous!!! I'm just so happy to see Denis Leary and Kevin Spacey together again!!!!!! :D |
53.) Indiana Jones 4 | Wed, 28 May 08 (bday movie) | theatre | C, I have not see the first three movies. The closest I have come to watching one is seeing a "show" at Universal Studios (I was six, I don't remember much). Despite this, I enjoyed it well enough. I thought the alien aspect was just lame, and many plot points and characters weren't flushed out, but I have a feeling the other films are just as superficial as this one. Maybe I'll be slapped for thinking that, but whatever. I enjoyed the chemistry between Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, and Shia LaBeouf. |
54.) An American Crime | Fri, 30 May 08 | movie ch. | B, I'm giving this a higher grade than I usually wood simply because of the performances of Ellen Page and Catherine Keener, both of whom are compelling. The movie is a downer and just succeeds in pissing me off, otherwise. |
55.) Evening | Tue, 10 Jun 08 | movie ch. | C, Despite my major love for the cast (loved how two real life mother-daughter duos are in this), everything about the 1950's scenes (♥!!!!), Patrick Wilson and Hugh Dancy respectfully, the dive piano player and that whole scene, and the houses/exterior scenery, the story and editing are blah for me. I haven't read the book, and maybe it is better than the screenplay, but I wish Hollywood would learn that NOT EVERY DAMN BOOK is meant to be adapted for the big screen. Idiots. |
56.) The Last Kiss | Mon, 16 Jun 08 | movie ch. | D, Ugh, don't get me started. |
57.) Sex in the City | Tue, 17 Jun 08 | theatre | C, It was alright, had some good moments. Too long, imo, but whatever. |
58.) The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian | Tue, 17 Jun 08 | theatre | B, I've never read the books so I'm not attached to the series. That shouldn't matter, because films based on books is just one interpretation that shouldn't be taken as anything more than that: one person's interpretation of the source material. It may or may not mesh with your POV of the material, get over it. For me, these movies are fun. Yeah, there isn't any blood on the swords, but it's Disney. Yeah, there are too many religious overtures but I've been told that comes from the books. Some of the special effects are full of MEH, but the same can be said about other special effects heavy movies. Who cares? If you enjoyed it then that is all that matters. |
59.) The Incredible Hulk | Wed, 18 Jun 08 | theatre | B, There are aspects of Ang Lee's The Hulk that I liked, but I've only seen it the once, at a Midnight show way back when, so maybe that is a truer testament of how I actually liked it. Idk, I might have to watch it again. Anyway, I enjoyed this one. I think Edward Norton is a better fit, though I did like Eric Bana too. I actually love how Norton isn't overly bulked up like most of the other actors who have played comic book hero characters, and I know he can (RE: American History X), but I like how he kept a slender, fit build for the science geek Banner. Anyway, the film wasn't drawn out or saturated with a love story like some (*coughSpider-Mancough*). The special effects were iffy in some areas (when Hulk is with Betty in the cave) but I loved the pace and action sequences overall. Best portion: TONY STARK! |
60.) What Happens in Vegas | Thur, 19 Jun 08 | theatre | D, I have always believed that Cameron Diaz is the female version of Ashton Kutcher, and Ashton Kutcher is the male version of Cameron Diaz. I think they're similar in many ways when it comes to their style of comedy and acting. They had the potential to make a good movie together, but this, well, sucked. Something was always off. The editing was bad, imo. The minor characters were annoying (I wanted to beat Hater). There were a few funny moments, and I loved the NYC shots, but my only favourite moment was when they showed the "six months earlier" part. One last thing: Despite my slight dislike of him, I have found Ashton Kutcher completely hot in the last two movies of his that I have seen (this and The Guardian). I don't know why, I just have. It's odd. |
61.) The Ballad of Jack & Rose | Sun, 22 Jun 08 | DVD | B, Wonderfully acted by all involved. Subject matter won't be to everyone's liking but it was interesting how the topic was explored in this film. I think some things could have been flushed out a bit better but other than that I enjoyed this. I loved the house Jack and Rose lived in on the commune. It was apart of the earth. There was grass on their roof! It was AWESOME! |
62.) Sommersturm | Thur, 19 Jun 08 | DVD | A, So beautiful. The cinematography is gorgeous! I'm in love with this film. |
63.) The Ruins | Mon, 30 Jun 08 | computer | C, I decided to watch this because I liked the cast. It was pretty dull. |
64.) The Dark Knight | Thurs, 17 Jul 08 | theatre (preview) | A, SO FUCKING AMAZING!!! |
65.) Wanted | Mon, 21 Jul 08 | theatre | C, Loved James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman but it has a beyond silly premise (a loom predicts who a fraternity of assassins are going to kill? LOLOLOL) and I am so ready for Angelina Jolie to leave the profession of acting now. |
66.) Hancock | Mon, 21 Jul 08 | theatre | B, Enjoyable. I knew that there was something off with Charlize Theron's character from the first time I saw the trailer way back when. She was wearing black and taking off her sunglasses in a certain way that just screamed "she is not what she seems". That and her character acted odd from the moment she "met" Hancock. So the "surprise" was not a surprise for me at all. The ending was too neatly wrapped up for my liking. It seemed to cut off short. |
67.) Me Without You | Tue, 22 Jul 08 | DVD | C, I liked it. I had seen part of it a couple of years ago on a movie channel and enjoyed what I had seen but the movie channels never played it again after that so I never got to watch all of it, and then I forgot about it. Last week I was looking something up related to Anna Friel and realised she was in the movie, along with Michelle Williams, so I had to to find a way to see it again. Only thing is that nobody - NOBODY - has it in stock. But instead of renting it or using stupid eBay I tried Amazon Marketplace and found the DVD for cheap. It isn't great, the writing and editing could have been better, but I love Holly and Nat (mostly because I love Michelle Williams and Oliver Milburn), and I remember that is what I loved most about the movie from when I had seen half of it years ago. |
68.) Mamma Mia! | zsat, 26 Jul 08 | theatre | C, I have yet to see the live stage musical, but I love the original Broadway cast recording! I enjoyed the movie, and you can tell that the cast was having fun. I ADORE Julie Walters and Stellan Skarsgård!!!! I did cringe at certain moments throughout the film, and Pierce Brosnan should never sing again. I've seen patrons dancing along to the ending credits during the last few closing shifts I've had. Love it!!! |
69.) WALL-E | Mon, 28 Jul 08 | theatre | A, Awwwwwww. It is cute and I can see how it makes some people cry. I wanted to cry but I didn't. It has a good message but how many people are really going to take it to heart and look at how our world is right now? |
70.) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 | Tue, 05 Aug 08 | theatre (preview) | C, Not as enjoyable as the first one (imo) but I'm betting the teenagers and their parents will enjoy it. Alexis Bledel is still (badly) playing Rory, like there is one scene centered on her character when the girls are in Greece that is totally ripped from the script pages of Gilmore Girls. It was hilarious. I was sarcastically commenting a lot during this movie. Yes, by myself. It is sad. |
71.) Pineapple Express | Wed, 06 Aug 08 | theatre (preview) | D, This was meh-ok. James Franco was pretty hilarious, and he and Seth Rogen were adorkable. There were some hilarious scenes/moments but they seemed to come and go. Overall I personally would never watch it again. Nor would I buy the DVD, unless they had bloopers. But even then I would just wait for someone to put them on YouTube. |
72.) Tropic Thunder | Wed, 13 Aug 08 | theatre (Midnight show) | C, Hilarious. I'm not a Ben Stiller, the actor, fan so he was the weakest part for me, but as a co-writer and director he isn't so bad. Jack Black is usually hit and miss with me but a hit in this. RDJ was AWESOME! They all were making fun of themselves and Hollywood, which is always fun to watch. Tom Cruise was disturbingly funny but his dancing was going too far imo. I didn't know about Matthew McConaughey being in the film so that was an amusing surprise for me. The fake trailers at the beginning are FTFW! |
73.) Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Thur, 14 Aug 08 | theatre (preview) | C, It's an audiobook with visuals. Seriously. There is a narrator throughout most of the film. The threesome was vanilla. My friend and I were mesmerized by Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz but....the movie had no fucking point. It was useless gibberish. Woody Allen....gah. |
74.) Swing Vote | Wed, 20 Aug 08 | theatre | C, Eh. I adored the secret service guy who was BFFs with Molly. Hee....other than that the movie had a ridiculous premise. |

I will be keeping lists at listography.com from now on.
